CENTRE FOR EARTH SCIENCES & HIMALAYAN STUDIES

Estd on 13th Oct, 2021

VISION :

To excel in earth science research application in
Arunachal Himalaya

The Centre’s research interests encompasses a range of broad themes, including the dynamics of the earth’s interior, earthquake source physics, seismic imaging, paleoclimate reconstruction, surface processes and mass transport, petrology, groundwater pollution, and anthropogenic impacts on the environment. Our research is grounded in interdisciplinary approaches that bridge the gap between basic and applied earth sciences.

The Centre is promoting the use of:

Scientific investigations into geodynamics of earth science related problems,

Local weather forecasting, mapping and mitigation of geo hazards using geotechnical and geochemical investigation, soil consolidation and stabilization for infrastructure development,

Studies of geological evolution of Arunachal Himalaya formation

Interpretation and analysis of seismology, plate tectonic, crustal studies for deciphering oil, mineral potential,

Conservation, rejuvenation of water resources and environment,

Creation of database on natural resources with link up facilities at Itanagar.

Climatology

System to analyse Atmosphere, Climate and Weather patterns over space and time. Most necessary information of daily weather with interactive charts and maps.

Geology

Structure and composition, and the types of processes acting on Earth. Provide information for rocks, minerals, gemstones, energy, volcanoes...

Seismology

Analyse and mitigate risks of natural resources and man made resources due to Earthquakes and seismic waves.

Weather Portal

Meteorological observations provides current and forecast weather information for optimum operation of weather-sensitive activities.

Hydrology

Distribution and movement of water both on and below the Earth's surface, as well as the impact of human activity.

Cryosphere

The cryosphere encompasses the Earth's surface where water exists in solid forms, including glaciers, snow, and permafrost.

Maps and Datasets Services

Climate Maps

Climate maps visually represent the distribution of climate patterns across geographic regions. Utilizing color-coded legends, they depict temperature, precipitation, and other climatic variables, aiding in the comprehension of climate zones.

Geology Maps

Geological maps visually represent Earth's surface and subsurface features, showcasing rock formations, fault lines, and other geological phenomena. They aid in understanding the Earth's structure, history, and resource distribution.

Seismic Maps

Seismic maps visually represent Earth's subsurface by illustrating variations in seismic waves, aiding in understanding geology, identifying resources, and managing seismic risks.

Hydrology Maps

Hydrological maps depict water-related features, such as rivers, lakes, and precipitation patterns, offering insights into Earth's water distribution and dynamics.
